60IN60 Day 36 - Mon Dec 9

It's Day 36 and we're in Mark 14.

One thing that can impede God speaking to you is the presence of unconfessed sin in your life. Are you coming to the Word today with a clean heart or are you holding things back from God?

Where God Spoke To Me:
- Verse 72 - We need to watch ourselves that we don't become overconfident in our faith.  We are dependent on God for being able to stand strong.

Your Questions and Comments:
- "Mark 10:29 - Is Jesus saying it is ok to abandon one's family to share the gospel?" - I don't think He's saying that it's ok to abandon your family casually.  I think He is anticipating that some will have to go away from the family in order to spread the gospel.  The most obvious example of that would be missionaries who move thousands of miles away from their extended family in order to share the gospel.  Certainly not something to be done lightly, but sometimes it is a calling from God.
- "Mark 10:39 - Is this specifically for those two or generally speaking about all Christians?  If specifically for James and John, how did they drink from the same cup and be baptized like Jesus?" - I think this is specific to those two.  I think the references to "drink" and "be baptized" are not pointing to communion or baptism, but rather they are symbolic of the violent deaths these two disciples will eventually die as martyrs.
