60IN60 Day 55 - Sat Aug 24

It's Day 55 and we're in Revelation 3.

Where God Spoke To Me:
- Verse 8 - There are doors God opens that no one can shut.  That's an encouragement as we do His work.

Help:
- Verse 1 - "seven Spirits of God" - As I mentioned the other day, this is obscure.  The best guess is that it refers to the seven-fold ministry of the Holy Spirit.
- Verse 5 - "erase his name" - Some argue that this means there is the possibility of losing your salvation; others note that there is nowhere that God says He actually does erase their name.

Your Questions and Comments:
- "In [yesterday's] 60in60, what do you mean by make it?" - Yesterday in talking about the reference to "overcoming" in Revelation 2, I said, "We will not make it if we are not willing to overcome."  Perhaps the simplest way to address that is to refer to Jesus' parable of the four soils (Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, and Luke 8:4-15). In that parable He spoke of things that can cause people to be unfruitful soil (the temptation of wealth, the desire to avoid persecution, etc.).  It's a reminder to us that every Christian is going to face struggles and difficulties along the way. Christ wants us to be fruitful in our lives (the fourth soil in that parable experiences abundant fruitfulness).  We will not make it to that type of fruitfulness if we do not overcome the obstacles in front of us.  There is no downhill, obstacle-free path to experiencing what Christ wants us to achieve in our lives.  This is a really interesting subject and there's a lot more I could say, but I'll leave it at that.
