60IN60 Day 6 - Sat Mar 9

It's Day 6 and we're in Mark 2.

Where God Spoke To Me:
- Verse 9 - The spiritual miracles are even greater than the physical ones, as amazing as they were.

Help:
- Verse 14 - As I shared yesterday, Mark tends to move quickly through stories, so this sounds like Jesus walks up to Levi having never met him and gets him to follow.  In fact, from the other gospels, we know they had talked before.

If you want to read the chapter online, here's a link.

Questions You Have:
- "Acts 8: 15, 17, 39 - People believed the message and were baptized. Oops! They , for some reason ( baptized in Jesus name?), didn't receive the Spirit. The Ethiopian eunuch received the word, believed and was baptized and went away rejoicing, no mention of whether he received the Spirit or not which just a few verses earlier was of some importance. My Pentecostal friend would argue that we all must receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit apart from receiving Christ as our Savior. Today's passage makes me wonder. Your thoughts, please." - I think we have realize (and this is true at several places in Acts) that this is a unique time in the history of the church.  For just one example, there's the big story of God telling Peter that the Gentiles can be Christians too.  Given that, I think it's a mistake to read too much into any given story in Acts and try to make it a general truth for all Christians in all ages.  For instance, there are scenes in Acts where people are saved and then later receive the Holy Spirit.  That's not the way things normally work - this is a unique time and a special situation.
- "What is your interpretation of Acts 8:32,33?" - I think it's speaking of Christ and the suffering He endured on the cross.  I think the end of verse 33 tells us that He would be killed in the process.  However, the miracle of the resurrection is greater than that so that it turns out He does have spiritual "descendents."
